Mrs. Katie Mariano

My name is Katie Mariano and I am a third grade teacher at LES. Who would have ever thought that my 31st year of teaching would be virtual? There was no training at Southern Connecticut University where I earned my BA in Education to prepare me for this type of teaching. My masters degree in reading from the same university also did not prepare me for virtual instruction and it has been a whirlwind of learning for me. I have fabulous students online and we are learning and teaching each other things on a daily basis. 

I look forward to getting a vaccination and being able to teach my students in person next year and be ready for the hugs and pictures I do so treasure and miss. Teaching is a career that I have loved and enjoyed and can not even think of another occupation that would ever be so rewarding for me.
